On 10 October 2018, Paul Smith, Vice Chairman, and committee member Bao Ha Pham from the Vietnam-UK Network met with a delegation from the People’s Aid Coordinating Committee of Vietnam (PACCOM). PACCOM was represented by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hung (Deputy General), Ms Nguyen Ha Mi (Official) and Mr. Le Van Hoang (Deputy Director of Public Security, Ministry of Public Security). PACCOM oversees some 500 foreign NGOs (including 22 British NGOs) operating in Vietnam. The organisation also oversees the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisation (VUFO) – the parent entity of some 60 international friendship organisations in Vietnam, including the Vietnam UK Friendship Association (VUFA) with whom the Vietnam-UK Network currently has a Memorandum of Understanding in place. The parties had in-depth discussions on a number of interesting topics, including supporting NGOs in general and British NGOs operating in Vietnam. Both sides recognised the mutual benefits and potentials in furthering the cooperation and dialogues between the two organisations and agreed on several action points to follow up. A special thank goes to Harvey Nash and NashTech for kindly hosted this meeting.
