Vietnamese scientists and experts living and working in universities and related organizations in the UK attend an online conference to establish the Vietnam Intellectual Association in the UK and Ireland (VIS-UK Ireland).
This event, held on 19 December and supported by the Embassy of Vietnam in the UK, involved 40 Vietnamese scientists, professors, PhD holders and experts working in the UK.
Vietnam’s Ambassador to the UK, HE Mr Tran Ngoc An, said the idea of the Association’s establishment had existed for a long time through many meetings with Vietnamese intellectuals living and working in the UK. The Embassy wished to create a forum for such people to connect with and support each other, so that through practical activities they can better contribute to the development of science, technology, and socio-economic links between the two countries, the Ambassador said.
The conference elected the Association’s executive board of nine members for one-year terms. Professor Nguyen T K Thanh, of University College London (UCL), was elected Chair of the board.
